These classes are for EVERY BODY and NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY for any class I teach.
Make sure to bring water and dress in layers.
Door opens right at 5:20. (If you've not been to my home studio, you'll get the address after registering. I'm very near the Whole Foods Coop.)
VIDHI Kundalini YOGA
SUNDAYS, 5:30 to 7 PM
January 6, 13, 20, 27 and February 3, 10
COST: $80 for six weeks
Kundalini yoga is the basis of this class, and if you have any back or hip issues, this is the yoga for you. Kundalini is the flowing, moving, breathing, feminine lineage of yoga born of Tantra, the yoga of our solid, sensory experience of this life.
This yoga is JOY!
Vidhi is ritual, energy yoga meant to take you deeper into your practice and to build community for support and witness.
Sometimes we chant; sometimes we release through intense breath or yelling; sometimes we stomp around to get rid of anger or stress; and most classes, we LAUGH.
BODYPOETICS Movement Art
MONDAYS, 5:30 to 7 PM
January 7, 14, 21, 18 and February 4, 11
COST: $80 for six weeks
BodyPoetics is a breath and imagery based movement practice unlike any of the ecstatic or "conscious" dance stuff that's out there. It will take you deeply into your uniquely creative dance and life, but it will also allow you to explore and expand your internal landscape, making space for all that has happened to you and all that is to come.
You are a dancer, regardless of what you've been told or what you think. It's in your cells as a human being. You are meant to move to music and it's the medicine your soul and heart craves.
In a typical Bodypoetics class, we'll first work to thoroughly warm up and explore the body, bit by bit. This is when we focus on the anatomy of being in this human form. We focus on taking care and yet expanding mobility and ability.
Then we work with an abstract concept for a third of the class. Exploring one concept over and over to different music to experiment more and more deeply. This is when we really learn new things about ourselves.
Toward the end of class, we focus on community, working as a unit or in pairs or both. We grow community roots and learn to see and witness and support one another.
