Welcome! This work will teach you new things about your body, reveal strength and mobility you never even knew you had, and make you more physically creatively expressive than ever before. It will also grow your connections to a healthy and loving community and thus build your spirit in a way that supports your next evolution of you.
If you can dream it, this circle can assist you in the process of stepping into it.
If you've never worked with me before in my home studio, you'll get the address after registering. (It's near the Whole Foods Coop for some idea.)
Classes are purchased as sessions and there are no refunds and they are nontransferable. I do my best to make space in other classes if you miss one of you regulars, but this is not promised so please try to commit to your time slot as best as you can. I do this because sessions definitely build on themselves.
There are a very limited number of spots available due to the size of my home studio but also because I want to give each student the attention they deserve and need.

The Butoh version of Bodypoetics is about slow and attentional work. We get deeply into the spine and the core, and we become more aware of the back of the body. If you're seeking inner strength of body and mind, this work is for you.
This work also awakens the feminine energies of the body -- flow, ease, vulnerability, and therefore, we create strength that is fluid and responsive rather than rigid and reactive.
We'll be combining and synthesizing, as usual, from a wide array of movement modalities, including Butoh, yoga, biomechanics, modern dance, pre-modern, and a ton of what I've developed over the last decade, including a Zen Koan approach to prompting the body to find new ways of being.
This work will ramp up your body vocabulary and creativity and give you a new sensitivity to how you occupy space as you walk through the world.
BODYPOETICS: BalletOM

No classes the week of November 21st (Thanksgiving)

So many of us were told we just "weren't built" for ballet, and what a LOAD that is! We are ALL built for strength, mobility, balance, and GRACE. We all have it in us and it can be coaxed out with love and attention and care.
I was one of those little girls who wasn't "lean" enough or "long enough." ((This is me sticking my tongue out at them))
I combine basic principles of ballet with yoga and breath and awareness and more attention to healthy alignment. The way you move will change in one session, as will your feet and your overall posture.
(And speaking of feet, bare are best but ballet slippers are welcome.)
